打印機(jī)的種類(lèi)很多，目前常見(jiàn)的有點(diǎn)陣擊打式和點(diǎn)陣非擊打式兩種。非擊打式又分為噴墨打印機(jī)和激光打印機(jī)。針式打印機(jī)由打印頭、字車(chē)機(jī)構(gòu)、色帶機(jī)構(gòu)、輸紙機(jī)構(gòu)和控制電路組成。打印頭由若干根鋼針構(gòu)成，通過(guò)它們擊打色帶，從而在同步旋轉(zhuǎn)的打印紙上打印出點(diǎn)陣字符。在漢字的輸入中一般用24針打印機(jī)。

噴墨式打印機(jī)是通過(guò)向打印機(jī)的相應(yīng)位置噴射墨水點(diǎn)來(lái)實(shí)現(xiàn)圖像和文字的輸出。其特點(diǎn)是噪聲低、速度快。激光打印機(jī)是利用電子成像技術(shù)進(jìn)行打印。當(dāng)調(diào)制激光束在硒鼓下沿軸向進(jìn)行掃描時(shí)，按點(diǎn)陣組字的原理，使鼓面感光，構(gòu)成負(fù)電荷陰影。當(dāng)鼓面經(jīng)過(guò)帶正電荷的墨粉時(shí)，感光部分就吸附上墨粉，然后將墨粉轉(zhuǎn)印到紙上，紙上的墨粉經(jīng)加熱熔化形成永久性的字符和圖形。它的特點(diǎn)是速度快、無(wú)噪聲、分辨率高。噴墨式打印機(jī)和激光打印機(jī)的輸出質(zhì)量都比較高。
